The Origins of Aqua Blu

Over the past ten years, I’ve had the privilege of reshaping Aqua Blu into something far beyond its origins. What began as a swimwear brand rooted in sun-drenched shores evolved deliberately yet boldly into a house of statement, innovation, and timeless design. I leaned into my background in couture, into the art of construction, and into the quiet power of fabric and print as canvas for storytelling my craft. I challenged the notion that swimwear had to be simple or purely functional. Instead I offered pieces that were practical and powerful designed not just to be worn, but to be remembered.

That vision naturally spilled into ready to wear, a category I approached not as an afterthought but as a continuation of my narrative. From there, the evolution into full ready to wear felt less like a pivot and more like an arrival. The same commitment to craftsmanship, technique, and print innovation remained only now it danced across silhouettes that moved from coastline to city streets. Ready to wear quickly became a new pillar for us, proving that the Aqua Blu woman wanted more. More statement, more longevity,
more pieces that spoke to who she was becoming.

Throughout it all, I’ve stayed committed to offering garments that carry weight emotionally, artistically, and ethically.
Every piece I create is an investment, not just in one’s wardrobe, but in self-expression, in confidence, in owning your space.
For me, fashion has never been about following, it's about building something that endures,
that empowers, and that invites people to step into their own rhythm.

For me, couture has always been about more than fashion. It's about creation in its purest form. I lean deeply into the art of making, where every piece begins not with a trend, but with a concept. My design philosophy has always been to narrate stories to create garments that speak, that resonate, that connect. In a world that's oversaturated and constantly rushing to consume, I feel a strong pull to slow things down. I want to bring the focus back to the beauty of craftsmanship, to the timelessness of something that’s been carefully, intentionally created.

What excites me most is the challenge  of pushing boundaries, questioning what’s possible. I’m constantly experimenting, “how do I give softness structure, or bring flow to something that was never meant to move that way?” I love working with fabrics that defy expectation manipulating them, reshaping them, and finding new ways to express the unexpected. Nothing in my work is off the rack from prints to fabric to silhouette, it all begins from the ground up. That’s where the magic livs for me. It’s in the process of imagining and then building something entirely new.

One constant element throughout my journey has been the butterfly.  a subtle signature that’s found its way into nearly every piece I’ve created over the last ten years. Sometimes hidden, sometimes front and centre, it represents more than just beauty, it’s a symbol of metamorphosis. Of evolution. And that’s something I hold close. I’m not the same person I was ten years ago or even six months ago and that transformation is always reflected in my work. Each season is a new version of myself, and in turn, a new expression of Aqua Blu. As I evolve, so does the brand not for the sake of change, but because growth is the most honest thing I can offer.
